DELMAR- Donald P. Ford, Jr., 73, entered eternal life on March 30, 2025 at his home following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and multiple myeloma. Born in Albany on April 4, 1951, he was the son of the late Donald P. Ford, Sr. and Mary (McCall) Ford.
Donald was a graduate of Vincentian Institute, Boston College and Albany Law School. He practiced law for over 40 years at the law firm founded by his grandfather, Roland Ford, which later became Thuillez, Ford, Gold, Butler and Monroe. He then worked at the firm Maguire Cardona for several years before retiring. Donald was a skilled litigator known for his intelligence, work ethic, sense of humor and warm personality. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed studying history.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary Frances (Filippone); his children, Daisy (Paul) Paglia, John, Thomas (Vanessa), Frances (Matthew Cirincione), Bridget (Griselda Potka, M.D.) and Cassie; his grandchildren, Paul and Danielle Paglia and Rocco Cirincione; and his sister, Christine Ford. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ellen Ford.
The family wishes to thank the Community Hospice and New York Oncology Hematology for the compassionate care they provided to Donald. Special thanks are extended to his aides, especially Eve Rivera, Mike Boutros and Missy Tasso, who helped Donald to enjoy the best quality of life. Donald was blessed with many loyal friends and colleagues who faithfully visited him over the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 4, 2025 at 10 am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church 35 Adams Place Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with Donald's family on Thursday April 3, 2025 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home 490 Delaware Ave., Albany
Contributions in Donald’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation or the Community Hospice.
