DELVALLE, VIRGINIA
ALBANY- Virginia Delvalle passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born on August 8, 1940 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, where she lived until moving to the Bronx, NY in 1969. She was an expert seamstress for many years before returning to school. She raised 7 children while working nights so she could attend school. She was a Mental Health Therapist for the State of New York until her retirement in 2002. Her biggest joy in life came from her family. Her children and grandchildren were her legacy.
Her mother Victoria Rodriguez and her father Enrique Delvalle predeceased her also her beloved son Carmelo. She is survived by three brothers, Miguel Delvalle of the Bronx,, Eusebio Delvalle of the Bronx, Enrique Delvalle of Puerto Rico, and her loving sister Emerita Delvalle of the Bronx. But most of all she is survived by her loving children, Daisy (Jose) Ortiz, Jose Diaz, Sandra (Fernando) Diaz, Irma Rivera, Sheila Delvalle, Moses (Maggie) Delvalle and Ruben Delvalle; and her 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Friday from 4-8 pm. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
