Decosmo, Anne M.

GUILDERLAND- Anne Moore DeCosmo, 96, died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Michael and Gertrude (Schafer) Moore and was a graduate of Albany Public Schools. She worked at the Watervliet Arsenal throughout WWII and later sold real estate in Albany for several years. She also sold real estate in Florida for 10 years. Mrs. DeCosmo retired from the Albany Public School system after 20 years of service at schools #5 and #7 and Arbor Hill Elementary. She worked at the Oxford Heights Apartments for 12 years, retiring in 1996. Following this retirement, she was a volunteer at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for 8 years. Mrs. DeCosmo was a 50 year member of the Normanside Country Club and a life member of Siena College.

She was the wife of the late Edward J. DeCosmo. She is survived by her sons, Edward A. (Carol) DeCosmo of Schenectady and Lawrence C. (Sharon) DeCosmo of Guilderland; her brother, John Moore of Albany and sister Virginia Ryan of Latham; her grandchildren Jennifer DeCosmo and Tara (Robert) Gurney; and her great grandchildren Ella and Logan Gurney. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, William Moore, Dorothy Flanagan and Katherine Moore. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and aides on the Lourdes and Rosary Units at Our Lady of Mercy LIfe Center for the kindness and care extended to Anne throughout her stay.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:30 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 am. Entombment will follow the service in the Mausoleum of Graceland Cemetery, Albany, NY.
