De Joie, Margaret M. “Meg”

ALBANY- In her 101st year, Margaret “Meg” De Joie passed away peacefully on Saturday March 10, 2018 at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Coeymans, NY on August 24, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Angeline (Zampella) De Joie. Meg’s first job was at the Jacobson Shirt Factory. She later joined the payroll department at Albany Medical Center where she worked for many years until her retirement. She was a communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi.

Survivors include her beloved, devoted sister and caregiver, Mary Jane De Joie; her nephew, Patrick (Mary T.) Albano; several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sisters; Josephine Albano, Helena De Joie and Edith Field.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. in the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family at the Church prior to the Mass on Thursday, beginning at 9:45 a.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Meg’s name may be made to Parish of Mater Christi Food Pantry, 40 Hopewell St., Albany NY 12208.
