ALBANY- Born in Albany in 1954, Raymond N. Dansereau entered into eternal life after a brief illness on Friday, July 23, 2021. He was the son of the late Raymond A and Mary K. Dansereau. Raymond graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1972 and continued on to the Albany College of Pharmacy where he received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He also earned his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in nuclear pharmacy with high honors from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Raymond worked as Clinical Nuclear Pharmacist and Director of Nuclear Pharmacy for 40 years at the Albany Medical Center where he specialized in bringing in the latest technology and developing new ones. He shared his expertise with pharmacy students who wished to enter the field. He was named Patient Safety Hero in February 2021 for ensuring safe radiopharmaceutical ordering, handling, compounding, and administration for countless Albany Medical Center patients. He retired in March 2021.
Raymond’s Roman Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a lifelong member of St. Teresa of Avila church until it merged with St. Catherine of Siena to become The Parish of Mater Christi. He served on several committees and was active as an Usher, Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy communion, Funeral planning and parish celebrations
Raymond is survived by his wife of 42 years, MaryGrace; his five children Raymond (Erin) Dansereau, Teresa (Brent) Tuttle, Thomas (Kathleen) Dansereau, Stephen Dansereau and Bernadette (John) Abeel; six grandchildren Catherine, Raymond, Clare, Benedict, Joanna, and Isaac; four brothers Robert (Deborah), Richard (Susan), David (Kim), and Andrew (Laurie) Dansereau.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 29 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 30 at 10:00 am at the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. with burial to follow at St. Jean de Baptiste Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to Food for the Poor, 6401 Lyons Rd., Coconut Creek FL, 33073.
