DELMAR- Theodore J. “Ted” Czerw, 83, of Delmar, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 20
22
at home after a brief illness.
Born in Utica, he was the son of the late Theodore P. and Estelle Czerw.
He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1961, served in the U.S. Army artillery
from 1962-1969, saw combat in Vietnam 1966-1967, was awarded the Bronze Star, and attained the rank of Major.
Ted was employed for 33 years by the New York State Associated General Contractors, a construction trade association. While there he was involved in negotiating well over a hundred highway-heavy construction collective bargaining agreements.
He is survived by his great love, best friend and wife of 60 years, Lynn (Martin) Czerw, daughters Ann C. Ross, Susan Sheppeck, and son Christopher (Shannon) Czerw. He will long be remembered as “Papa” to his ten grandchildren Lindsay, Mitch, Nate Ross, Jack, Quinn, Bridget, Will Sheppeck, Claudia, Jennifer, Katie Czerw. He is also survived by his brother Frederick (Andrea) Czerw, nephews Eric and Brian Czerw, niece Jessica (Mike) Berben, and grandnephew Michael Berben.
Ted enjoyed many sports activities. He loved watching NFL, March Madness, the NY Yankees and NY Giants, playing poker and Saratoga Race Track in August.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Monday, August 22, from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 23 at 9:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl. Delmar. Inurnment will immediately follow the Mass at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
