ALBANY- Charles J. Curcurito, 89 died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Sebastian and Concetta (Catalfamo) Curcurito. Mr. Curcurito was a graduate of the former Philip Schuyler High School. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, having served with the 754th Tank Battalion. He worked as an auto Mechanic and later at the Watervliet Arsenal as a Repair Machinist for 34 years. He then worked for NYS, OGS parking services, part-time for 20 years. He was a communicant of the former St. James Church and a member of the Colonie Elks and the Albany Area Bass Masters. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and golfing at Albany Municipal Golf Course. He and his wife, Emily, annually attended the 754th Tank Battalion Veterans Reunions.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Emily J. Curcurito; children Charles S. (Sandy), Edward, Anthony F. (Jean) Curcurito and Connie Barber: grandchildren are Theresa, Kimberly, David, Joey, Nancy, Annmarie, Christine, and Anthony “Chuckie”; also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, several nieces, nephews, cousins, his former daughters-in-law, Linda Hughes and Diane Larson and former son-in-law Jerry Barber and his faithful canine companion Nugget. He was predeceased by his sister, Sadie T. Urschel.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 9:15 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. thence to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, (formerly St. James Church) 391 Delaware Ave. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, NY Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Monday, September 19, 2011 from 4-8 pm Those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
