ALBANY- In loving memory of Emily J. Curcurito, 98, who passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 05, 2021 with her daughter Connie by her side.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY and was predeceased by her parents John and Anna (Rupe) Kula; also her beloved husband of 70 years, Charles J. Curcurito and brothers Andrew, Michael, Joseph and Edward (Dorothy) Kula; her sisters Catherine Crouse and Frances Carbone; and her daughter-in-law Diane Espey who was like a daughter to her.
Emily is survived by her three sons Charlie (Sandy), Eddie, and Anthony (Jean) Curcurito; her loving daughter Connie Barber; and daughter-in-law Linda Huges; her eight grandchildren Theresa, Kim, David, Joey, Nancy, Ann Marie, Christine and Anthony; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Emily enjoyed spending time with her two special granddaughters Theresa Gregory and Kim Flint. They made her feel special and put a smile on her face. After Emily lost her husband, her daughter Connie became her caretaker. Emily was so grateful for the care she received from Connie. Emily was a strong and determined person and a spitfire to the end. Connie made it possible for her to remain in her own home.
Emily retired from NYS Dept. of Education. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, going to the casino, knitting, crocheting and traveling. She was known for her delicious cooking and baking. You would never leave her house hungry and always with a care package of food to take home and all were welcome.
Emily was kind, caring, funny and had a heart of gold. She devoted herself to her family and friends and loved meeting people and talking with them. She will truly be missed by her daughter Connie and by all who knew her. She will forever hold her love in our hearts.
Special thank you to John Garzia for all his kind and caring help with Emily and to all the neighbors for watching out for her. Thank you to all of her aides and nurses who took care of her and were always there for her - Darren, Pam, Renee, Janet, Michelle and Sandy. Thanks for putting a smile on her face. Special thanks to Eva for her friendship and for devoting herself to mom’s care.
