Commerford, Dennis A.

Guilderland - Dennis A. Commerford, 65, of Guilderland passed away peacefully on Sunday December 9, 2018 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle for almost three years.

Born in Albany, he was the son of William and Eileen Commerford and was a graduate of Phillip Schuyler High School. Dennis worked for 30 years with the NYS Office of General Services.

Dennis was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always generously provided and watched over his family and friends.He worked diligently for the State earning himself many promotions over the years.His favorite pastimes were hanging with his buddies on the Avenue and smoking cigars until he became a grandfather when his grandsons became the apples of his eye.He looked forward to greeting them at the bus before and after school.

His wife Jennifer, as he called her, “My some kind of wonderful” was his primary caretaker for almost three years diligently taking care of him at home.Mike Sprague, was his best friend who stood by him until the end

In addition to his wife Jenny, he is survived by his children Jodi, Dennis and his wife Liz, Jena and Jessica and was the proud grandfather to Stephen, Nicholas and Dennis. He is also survived by his brother Erin and his wife Stephanie and many nieces and nephews. Dennis is predeceased by his brother William.

The family would like to thank the all of the staff of Community Hospice for the outpouring of care, compassion and concern they gave towards Dennis and his family during his time with them.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 4-7 at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany NY 12209.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 15 at 9:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave, Albany.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Community Hospice Foundation, 315 S. Manning Blvd, Albany NY 12208

Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
