ALBANY- Philomena Gioeni Colfels, 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 08, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta Breda. Philomena was predeceased by her husband Anthony Gioeni, and second husband Benard Colfels; and her daughter Antoinette Gioeni. Philomena was the youngest and last remaining sibling in her family.
She is survived by her children Lucille Hughes (Alan), Gennaro “Jerry” Gioeni and Sharon Gioeni; her grandchildren Christopher Hughes, Anthony and Sammy Gioeni; great-grandchildren Brady, Aiden and Aubrey Hughes; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Philomena worked for many years as a waitress at the Larkin Restaurant in Albany. She enjoyed taking bus trips to the casinos and playing the slot machines and bingo. She was a Communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Sunday, December 12 from 4-6 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 13 at 10:00 am at The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Masks are required. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to The Parish of Mater Christi.
