Catherine K. Miller

Catherine "Kate" Miller passed away on November 27, 2023, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Albany on June 19, 1923, Kate was the daughter of the late Frank and Marie Kohinke. She grew up in the South End of Albany and graduated from Philip Schuyler High School. She lived in Albany until 1952. At that time, she and her husband George F Miller Sr. moved to Delmar to raise their family.

While her children were young Kate remained a homemaker. Later on, she worked for the Town of Bethlehem Justice Department. After becoming a grandmother, she became affectionately known as "Ma" to not only family but close friends as well. A name she was proud of for over 55 years.

Following retirement, Kate traveled cross country with George and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. She looked forward to Bethlehem Seniors on Thursdays. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed singing, dancing, and attending theatre productions and musicals with family and friends. She loved her neighborhood and remained in her family home for over 70 years.

In addition to her parents, Kate was predeceased by her husband George F. Miller Sr., her son George F Miller Jr., her granddaughter Gina M Miller and her brother Frank "Bud" Kohinke.

Kate is survived by her children Richard (Karla) Miller, Janet (Douglass) Bailey, Stephen (Margaret) Miller, Susan Miller (Robert DeMichele) and Helen (William) Sudol. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 2, 2023, at 12 noon in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY 12209. Interment will follow at Holy Spirit Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont, NY.

In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to Community Hospice, Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, The Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or the Bethlehem Food Pantry.
