Cardettino, Joseph J.

NISKAYUNA- Joseph J. Cardettino, born February 17, 1925 in Albany, NY passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at Ellis Residential Center. He was the son of the late Enrico and Angelina Cardettino. He graduated from Philip Schuyler High School and served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Tuscaloosa. Mr. Cardettino was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal for 35 years. He was a former communicant of St. James Church and member of the Wigwam Club of Albany.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann "Nancy" (Hammont) Cardettino; his children, Joseph and Patricia Cardettino of Niskayuna, Donna and Gary Larrivee of Torrance, CA, and Lynn and Meinrad Rickenbacher of Niskayuna. He is the brother of Anna Elia and Julia Danelwitz both of Colonie and the late Rosalie Rovelli. “Pa” will be missed by his grandchildren, Jennifer (Cardettino) and Drew Hite, Julie (Cardettino) and John Neugebauer, Emily (Larrivee) and Zachary Szukala, Paul Cardettino, LTJG Ryan Larrivee, SC, USN, Olivia and Camille Rickenbacher and by his great granddaughters, Isabel and Kaitlin Neugebauer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff in the Stockade Wing at the Ellis Residential Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 10 am in St. Helen’s Church, 1803 Union St,. Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Monday, November 1, 2010 from 4-7 pm. Interment Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National
