MENANDS- Sister Maria Capobianco, DC died December 3, 2017 at St. Louise House in Menands.Sister was 91 years of age and 65 years vocation as a Daughter of Charity.

Born in New York City on December 14, 1925, Sister Maria was one of 5 children born to Theresa and Alfred Capobianco.Sister Maria joined the Community of Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in 1950 in Emmitsburg, NY. Sister Maria graduated from Yorkville High School in Manhattan, NY.She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, MD in 1960 and her Associates Degree in Nursing from Catherine Laboure School of Nursing, Boston, MA in 1974.

Sister Maria served on the following Missions mostly in education and healthcare:Providence Hospital – Washington, DC, Carney Hospital – Boston, MA, St. Michael – Overlea, MD, St.Catherine Laboure – Wheaton, MD, Mother Seton School – Emmitsburg, MD, Our Lady of Lords – Utica, NY, St. Mary’s School – Troy, NY, St. Peter’s School – Wilmington, DE, St. James School – Johnson City, NY, Carney Hospital – Boston, MA a second time, St. Mary’s Hospital – Troy, NY a second time, Our Lady of Lourdes School – Utica, NY a second time, St. Agatha’s – Canastota, NY, Seton Convent – Binghamton, NY, Lourdes Hospital – Binghamton, NY, St. Agatha’s Center – Canastota, NY a second time, St. Mary’s Hospital – Troy, NY a second time, St. Joseph’s Provincial House – Emmitsburg, MD, St. Elizabeth Ann Residence – Troy, NY, St. Joseph’s Provincial House – Emmitsburg, MD a second time, St. Vincent’s House – Albany, NY, St. John’s Parish Center – Brooklyn, NY, Bainbridge House – Brooklyn, NY.

In 2014, Sister joined the Ministry of Prayer at St. Louise House, Menands and served there until the time of her death.

Sister Maria is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her Sisters in Community.

A Wake Service for Sister Maria Capobianco, D.C. will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at DePaul Provincial House 96 Menand Road, Menands.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Maria will be celebrated Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at DePaul Provincial House Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Daughters of Charity, Province of St. Louise, 4330 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63108-2622.
