Canty, Irene A.

ALBANY- Irene "Aunt Ag" (Domblewski) Zukauskas Canty, 95, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at her home.

Born in Schenectady, Irene was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. She worked as an audit clerk with the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany for 17 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Retired Public Employee Association (RPEA), the Jolly Bunch Bowling League and a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

She was predeceased by her first husband Charles Zukauskas, her second husband, Joseph P. Canty and nine older siblings. Survivors include her daughters, Agatha “Lolly” Pike, Christine Florio (late Joseph) and Sharlee Rodd (Gary); five grandchildren, five great–grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; her beloved care giver Gabriella Murray; special friend Sister Natalie Runfola, RSCJ and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step family.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday, February 2nd from 4-7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3rd at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home thence to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass in Holy Cross Cemetery, Rotterdam.
