ALBANY – Shirley J. (Selke) Burns, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 04, 2018 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born and educated in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ethel (Seibert) Selke, Sr. Mrs. Burns worked as a clerk in the File Bureau of NY Telephone Company, retiring in 1989 and was a member of the NY Telephone Pioneers.
Shirley loved her family, friends and pets, she also enjoyed her home and garden. She was a long-time member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit and an active volunteer at the church.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years in 2002, Parker J. Burns, Sr. and her brother R.C. Selke, Jr. She is survived by her children Sheila Pacowski (Frank) of Delmar, Parker Burns (Diana) of FL and Sharon Duker (Michael) of Selkirk; grandchildren Kevin Burns (Mel), Lindsey Glaser (Seth), and Michael Duker (Stephanie); her great-grandchildren Addison and Samantha Glaser, Koya and Cypress Burns; her sister Janet Sorensen and sister-in-law Carolyn Sandford; also several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family Monday October 8 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Albany.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:45 am from the funeral home and 10:30 am in the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Albany. Interment will follow the service in the Evangelical Protestant Church Cemetery, Krumkill Road, Albany.
