ALBANY- Elizabeth G. “Betty ”(Durning) Brown, 95, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center.
Born in Albany and a graduate of Vincentian Institute, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Gertrude T. (Quinn) Durning. Mrs. Brown was appointed Deputy Comptroller for the City of Albany by former Mayor Erastus Corning. She retired in 1994 after more than 35 years of service to the City. She was a communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi.
She was the wife of the late John W. Brown; mother of George (Cris) Brown of Naples, Fl., Kathleen (the late Patrick J.) Hart of Huntsville, AL. and Darleen G. (Joseph A.) Koreman of Albany; grandmother of Patrick J. Hart, Jr., Tracey Schaeffer, Sharon B. Alexander, Kathleen Elizabeth, Quentin M. Brown, Joseph A. Koreman and Arthur E. Koreman. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and her faithful canine companion, Andy Brown.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. in The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Albany. Interment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family prior to the Mass from 9:00- 10:30 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave, Albany
