NISKAYUNA - Bette (Innes) Stelman Bradway, 80, passed away, Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her family. Born and educated in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Robert and Lucille Van Brocklin Innes and graduated from Nott Terrace High School class of 1955. Bette was a Registered Nurse in private orthopedic practice for many years. After retirement, she turned her life-long hobby of genealogy into a profession and became a board certified genealogist. Bette was a member of the New York Society of Mayflower Decedents and held several offices including Governor. She was also the Historian General for the Society out of Plymouth, MA and had the honor of residing in the Winslow House for four years.
Bette was a talented cook and her lively personality often lit up the room.
The family would like to thank her doctors, hospice and nursing staff at Ellis Hospital for their care and compassion.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Henry J. Stelman and second husband, Phillip H. Bradway.
She is survived by her sons Robert Stelman (Kathleen) and Henry Stelman (Diane); step-children Cheryl Bradway, Paul Bradway and Lynn Scheriff; her granddaughters, Catherine Stelman and Nicole Bastian; her sister Eleanor Bullock (Giles); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held privately. She will be interred in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
