LATHAM- After 21 years of time apart, Joan A. (Neubauer) Bowers, has been reunited with her beloved husband Joseph. Joan, 83, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 surrounded by the ones she laughed with, lived for and loved-her family. Joan was born and educated in Albany, a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names. She married Joseph C. Bowers on Sept 18, 1954 and settled in Albany and raised their family. Joan was past President and a lifetime member of the Supreme Council of Columbiettes, #173. She was also a member of Albany Elks Lodge #49, and AARP since 1978. She was a proud Democratic Committee Woman of the First Ward for 21 years. Joan was a Communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi and former Communicant of St. James Church.
In addition to her parents John and Helen Naubauer, she was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her sister Ruth Neville, and grandson Brian.
She is survived by her children Deborah Heinmiller, Pamela (Dr. Robert) Deitz, and Michael Bonnie Matson) Bowers; grandchildren Adam (Kayleigh), and Kristen Heinmiller, Amy (Jeffrey) Welsh, Dr. Caitlin (Joseph) Graziano, and Michael Deitz, Patrick (Meghan) Bowers, Ryan Bowers (Marissa), Joseph and Jack Bowers; great-grandchildren Audrey, Amelia and Owen Welsh, and Sophia Graziano; her sister Joyce (Louis) Gorzynski, and her niece Judy (Robert) Allyn; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 9:15 am from the funeral home thence to The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Albany, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
