Becker, Dorothea A.

ALBANY—Dorothea (Dot) Becker passed away on February 25th, 2013. She was born in Albany on June 7th, 1914. She was the daughter of John Sheedy and Elizabeth Flynn. Dorothea was predeceased by her husband, Clement P. Becker and her daughter, E. Patricia DeCecco.

Dot graduated from the College of Saint Rose in 1935, and was President of the Alumni Association. She was a homemaker who raised her daughter and cared for her own mother. In 1968 she went to work as a Senior Statistics Clerk with the Office of the State Comptroller until retiring in 1991. Dot was active within her community, and was a communicant of Holy Cross Church (All Saints Catholic Church) where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also active in the Manning Boulevard Neighborhood Association, having lived there for over Forty years. The former Becker home at 6 Manning Boulevard was featured as the 2008 Vanguard Showhouse.
