Battibulli, Angela C.

ALBANY – Angela “Angie” Battibulli (neé Calsolaro) lived and breathed for her children and grandchildren until she joined her husband, Thomas “Tommy” A. Battibulli, in heaven on July 20th, 2017.

Angie, or “Che Che” as she was known to family and friends, was born to Louis and Angelina (neé LoPonto) Calsolaro, in 1926, and grew up in Albany’s South End. After graduation from Cathedral Academy, she worked fifteen years at National Commercial Bank. In 1961, she married Tommy and they led a migration of family to the close-knit Mercer & Providence Street neighborhood. Che Che took pride in cooking for her family and tending her beautiful and bountiful garden, known for its tasty tomatoes and zucchini. Che Che and Tommy were married forty-three years until his passing in 2004, and devoted their lives to lovingly raising their children Thomas A. Battibulli, Jr. and Joanne Bertsche, who married Linda Dillon and Tom Bertsche, respectively. Che Che would say her greatest source of joy sprang from her grandchildren, Rico and Lili Battibulli and Emily, Brian, Kathleen and Joseph Bertsche. She also leaves behind her sister Marie Thorne (Chuck), her husband’s daughter Sharon Bennett (Jim) and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the tender care provided by the staff at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center during her last year and the support of her friends at the Beltrone Living Center who enriched her life for the past decade.

A wake will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 4-6 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Funeral servcies will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 at 9:15 am from the funeral home thence to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 900 Madison Ave. where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.
