Selkirk, NY - Paul James Barnes, 58, passed away at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center on Saturday, April 3, 2010, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Troy, NY, Paul is the son of Margaret (Agars) Barnes and the late Herbert Joseph Barnes. Educated at Averill Park and Catholic Central High School, Paul served his country as a US Navy Seabee during the Vietnam Era.

Paul is survived by brothers, Stephen of Averill Park, NY, Neil of Tampa, FL.; a twin sister, Marsha of New Scotland, NY and a sister, Margaret Andrea of Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his brother, John Frederick (Eric) Barnes of Arcadia, CA. Paul is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many, many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 9, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. James Church, 391 Delaware Avenue, Albany by Rev. William H. Pape, rector, and the parish family of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Interment with full military honors will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, New York, Friday, April 9, 2010 at 1:00 pm.

Paul was a man of kindness and deep faith. He will be missed by so many. Gifts in tribute to Paul may be made to the Capital District Community Gardens, 40 River Street, Troy, NY 12180. Paul was a long time supporter of the community garden at the VA.
