Barber, Noel W.

ALBANY- Noel W. Barber, 64, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Stratton VA Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Richard M. and Eleanor (Mitchell) Barber. Mr. Barber was a graduate of Colonie High School. He was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War, having obtained the rank of Corporal. Mr. Barber worked for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 7 for 35 years. He was a member of the VFW and the N.A. Blanchard American Legion Post. He loved golfing and was an avid fan of the NY Giants.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kris Barber; his daughter, Christina Shaughnessy; his son, William (Brianna) Barber; five grandchildren, Kayleigh, Shannon, William, Lucas and Aiden; a great-granddaughter, Layla; siblings, Eleanor Campbell, Richard Barber Jr., Elizabeth Blake and Nancy Brockley; many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Monday, February 13, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. A Prayer Service and Military Honors will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Disease Research Program, c/o Stratton VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208
