On December 30, 2023, God called home our daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin and friend, Anita Abrahams. Anita (Nita) Marie Abrahams, 65, was born in Spring Valley, NY on March 20, 1958 to Cherry and Vernon Abrahams. She received her Christian faith and was baptized at First Baptist Church. She attended Spring Valley High School, where she was active on the cheerleading team. After high school, Anita attended Utica College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. Anita loved words and books. She could always be found solving word puzzles. So, it's not surprising that she enjoyed a successful 20+ year career at Pearson PLC, a multinational publishing and education company that was once the largest education and book publisher in the world. She retired from Pearson in 2016, as a Manager of the Credit Department. Anita also enjoyed working with children and uplifting young adults, particularly young girls. She assisted long-time friend Sherry Scott with the Rockland County Concerned Citizens Ministerial Dancers. Nita was very supportive and assisted with the dancers during practices and travel. She traveled with the kids to many events including the McDonald's Gospelfest, where the children competed in the finals. They also danced at the White House grounds. In retirement, Anita served in a Foster Grandparent program for years, where she provided children with special needs the love of a Grandparent that they may not have experienced. Anita spoke proudly about this program. Anita dedicated her life to serving, developing and nurturing children of all ages and backgrounds. Anita is preceded in death by her father Vernon Abrahams Sr. and her brother Terrance Abrahams. She is survived by her daughter, TaLena Myers (fiancé Joseph James), granddaughters Emma and Penelope, grandson Kye, her mother, Cherry Abrahams, her sister, Marrissa Abrahams, her brothers Vernon Abrahams Jr. Chris Abrahams (Sheryl) and Tony Abrahams (Marilyn), and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
