Allen, Virginia A.

BALLSTON LAKE, NY - Virginia Ann (Catalano) Allen - Ginny age 79 passed away Monday March 20, 2023, in her home with her daughter Michelle, grandson Mark and niece Lynn by her side after a short battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late George Allen Sr for 59 years.

Virginia was a homemaker for the first part of her marriage and after her children graduated high school, she was employed with Bella Napoli Bakery in Troy, NY for 15 years. She loved to travel with George visiting many states, as well as going to the various casinos throughout the country. Her true passion was being with her family and hosting the holidays. Virginia was an excellent cook and baker, making cakes for all and especially cookies for every occasion.

Virginia is survived by her children George (Ann) Troy, NY, Mark (Lisa) Troy, NY and Michelle of Utica, NY, beloved grandmother to Mark (Ashley) McDonald, Cody and Brenden (Megan), her sister Blanche along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Samuel Catalano Sr and Annette Catalano.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mass General Hospital, the proton radiation unit, the staff at Saratoga Hospital, and the nurses of Hospice for the care and compassion they provided during this difficult and trying time.

She was loved by so many and will be missed dearly. She always said, enjoy life and remember Dad and I will always be with you and watching over you everywhere you go.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 27 at 1:30 pm in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle St. Entombment will follow the Mass in the Mausoleum of St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Monday from 10:00 am-12:30 pm.
