ALBANY-Peter G. Redmond Sr., of Albany died on Saturday, March 2, 2013 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was 78 years old. A lifetime resident of Albany, he was a graduate of Vincentian Institute and earned a B.S. in economics from Siena College in 1957.
He served in the U.S. Army and Reserves from 1957 to 1969 where he attained the rank of Captain.
Peter was a commercial real estate broker for over 40 years, with Robert Cohn Associates and CBRE/Albany. He was an active member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR).
Peter was a devoted friend of Bill W. for more than thirty years and as a result touched many people’s lives. He was also an avid sailor who loved Lake George.
He was the beloved father of four children; Carol R. (Timothy) Naughton, Donna R. (John) O’Neill, Peter G. (Melissa) Redmond, Jr. and Christopher J. (Krista) Redmond. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and his dear brother, William J. (Joan) Redmond, Sr. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Daniel J. and Marie Redmond and his brother, Daniel J. Redmond, Jr. He was previously married to Barbara J. Hughes.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 in St. Mary of the Angels Chapel at Siena College, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville. A reception will follow the Mass in Serra Hall on Campus. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
Those who wish may make memorial donations in his name to the YMCA to support the Y-Knot Sailing Program for disabled sailors at Camp Chingachgook on Lake George. Checks can be made payable to YMCA, 1872 Pilot Knob Rd., Kattskill Bay, NY 12804.
