Awad, Genevieve M.

ALBANY – Genevieve (Bielecki) Awad, 91, entered into eternal rest after a brief illness Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born and educated in Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Aleksander and Maryanna Bielecki. She was the beloved wife of the late Elias N. Awad; devoted mother of Mary Ann Awad (late Eileen Kelly), Evelyn Awad (Linda Glassman) and Edward Awad (late Martha Moore); cherished grandmother of Dr. Elias Awad, Emily Moore Awad, and Faith Glassman-Awad. She is also survived by her extended family Kathy, Dale, Erin and Meredith Burnham of Louisville, KY, and many treasured nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her loving siblings Stephen (Katherine), John (Dorothy), Michael (Agnes), Aleksander (Nina), Henry (Mary), and Richard Bielecki, Charlotte Bielecki Zeller (Joesph Trenske, Albert Zeller), Lee (Joseph) Baumgartner, and Agatha (Edward) Brinkman.

Genevieve was a courageous, generous and loving person. Her accomplishments were many and she lived a rich and full life. Her love of reading, travel, the opera, cooking, gardening, and her cherished grand pets was ever present.

Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with her family on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Albany.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 9:30 am in The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Interment will be held privately in St. Agnes Cemetery.
